Performance
Performance
Performance, especially in large scale simulations can be a difficult thing. Often it is limited by CPU speed, sometimes memory and other times can simply be a low frame-rate due to a underpowered GPU.
Otherwise the main contributors to performance issues are:
- Number of avatars on screen at once
- Large environments (more than 500m long)
- Long simulations (more than 10 mins simulation time)
If the speed is still an issue, you can choose to change the Time Step (default 0.001, ie 1000 calculations per second). To do this, enable academic settings and navigate to General -> Time Step. You can raise this to 0.002, 0.003 or 0.004 to increase the simulation speed by 2x, 3x and 4x respectively. You can raise the Time Step further but it is not recommended as there starts to be a significant trade-off in simulation accuracy.
